The Merimbula Public School Boys' Soccer Team triumphed on Friday when they played Berridale in Round 3 of the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) Knockout. At half time they were in the lead 7-0. By full time the Merimbula boys had won 14-nil!

The goals were shared around with 8 players scoring them, including: Lucas, Tavita, Harry, Caleb, Jak, Jedd, Dylan and Angus.

"The team displayed a solid defence, teamwork and a highly effective mid-field. An accurate attack found the goal on 4 occasions" shared Merimbula Public School teacher and coach Wes Unicomb.

As well as being an effective team, the boys were also a hospitable one. Following the game they treated Berridale to a barbecue and some of the beauty of the Sapphire Coast, taking the team and their families fishing with the school's class set of rods. The Berridale students and their families enjoyed the fishing as much as the game, if not more so, and look forward to keeping in touch with their new Merimbula friends.

"The boys should be congratulated on their skill and welcoming nature. They really showcased how proud they are of the school and the community in which they live" shared Principal Michelle Hulme. "Mr Unicomb and the boys were great hosts. Mr Danius Mauragis was also a great support to the team, assisting them with training once again this year".

The boys now look forward to playing the winner of Moruya and Broulee Public Schools in the coming weeks.
