Last Friday, a talented team of students from Merimbula Public School attended the Regional PSSA Athletics Carnival in Canberra to represent the Far South Coast Zone. The team were very successful on the day with a number of students being selected to represent the region at the State Carnival which will be held at the Sydney Athletic Centre in Homebush on October 20- 21. Rosie, Stephanie, Tahlia and Amber will be representing their school and the Illawarra South East Region in the Senior Girl's Relay Event, where they will be running 100m each. Jackson will be competing in the 100m Sprint and Angus will be competing in the Discus Event.
Jedd and Taj were also successful in making it into the finals last Friday, however did not score a place. As a result they just missed out on competing at the State Carnival.
Mrs Michelle Hulme, Principal of Merimbula Public School, commented "I am extremely proud of the students from Merimbula Public School who participated in last week's carnival. They worked so hard to prepare for the event". Mrs Hulme also commented "One of our fabulous teachers Mrs Megan Young has been working hard to train our athletes. Her dedication as an Athletics Coach at our school has again contributed to our success".
Merimbula Public School also achieved fantastic results at the Zone Carnival, once again being crowned Zone Champions on the day.
