Applications for student travel 2016

From 2 November 2015, a new online SSTS application process is being introduced for schools within the Opal network, coinciding with the introduction of the School Opal card. Schools outside the Opal network should continue to process the existing blue SSTS application forms and send them to the appropriate transport operators. Most parents, guardians and students won't need to apply for a school travel pass for 2016 if they have already been given a school student travel pass for the current year. 2016 school funding allocations

All NSW public schools are currently being advised of their 2016 Resource Allocation Model (RAM) funding. RAM distributes funding based on individual needs of students and schools, and gives schools greater flexibility to make financial decisions. The way schools use their RAM funding will vary based on local needs. Some support will be for the entire school, and some will be for particular groups of students or individual students. Precautionary Evacuation

As you may be aware, today we held a precuationary evacuation following a staff member detecting a possible gas leak. The smell was detected during the recess play break, not long after maintenance staff had left the school after having completed routine maintenance on the gas heaters. Thank you to all of the students, staff, families and emergency service staff who were calm, sensible and supportive during our evacuation at 1.55pm. Presentation Day Honours and Kindergarten Graduation

Towards the end of Term 4, December 12, high academic achievement, effort and success in learning was celebrated at Merimbula Public School. Around 5 students in each class were recognised for high achievement whilst around 40 students school-wide received special awards for effort and excellence in specific learning areas. As well as seeing student achievement celebrated, the school's Recorder Ensemble and Year 6 students shared some talented musical items, which were followed by the traditional Parent and Helpers' Morning Tea. Sporting Champions who received medallions

Sports Champions Celebrated

Many of our talented students were recognised for their sporting achievements in December. Over 60 students from Years 2 to 6 received medallions for making it to Regional or State Championships in the Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) competitions in Athletics, Swimming, Cross Country, Soccer, Softball, Rugby League, AFL and/or Tennis as part of a school or regional team.
